Why this tool exists

WordPerfect was the dominant word processor through most of the 1980s and early 1990s. Millions of documents were created in .wpd format — legal briefs, academic papers, government records, personal correspondence. Microsoft Word dropped native WPD support around Word 2016, leaving a large archive of files that most modern software can't open.

How it works

When you upload a .wpd file, it's transmitted over an encrypted HTTPS connection to CloudConvert, a professional document conversion service. CloudConvert parses the WordPerfect binary format and re-encodes the content as a standard DOCX file. The converted file is returned to you and deleted from the processing server automatically. We never store, access, or analyze your documents.

This is an independent project built by a developer who needed to convert a batch of old WordPerfect files and couldn't find a clean, straightforward tool to do it.
